Classroom Information

Preschool students are welcomed each morning by a friendly staff member, their temperatures checked, and their hands cleaned with hand sanitizer.  After putting away their belongings, students select their jobs for the day, such as the flag holder, the line leader, or the weather reporter.  Circle time happens next and children have the opportunity to answer the question of the day, review topics like the calendar and weather, and hear an overview of the lessons for the day.   We use theme-based lessons to build background knowledge while children engage in activities to learn their letters, numbers, shapes and colors.

Individual and small group centers allow students to engage with each other and their teacher in a play-based way to learn in an interactive way.  There are special learning opportunities through art projects, science experiments and observations, music, and religion.  We are a Catholic preschool where our faith shines through in all we do.  We pray every day, celebrate religious feast days, and teach our students that we are called to serve one another through service projects throughout the year.

In this year of a global pandemic, we have striven to keep our students and their families safe through purposeful and systematic hand washing schedules, classroom and classroom materials cleaning, the universal wearing of facemasks of all students and staff, and physically distancing our students as much as possible.  Thanks to our PTO, we now have air purifiers in each classroom and we try to play outside every day.  As case numbers rose and our school went to distance learning this fall, our preschoolers continued their learning from home with regular zoom classes, home based video posts and packets.
